I am on a different path for the next few days and using acrylics on watercolor paper. My intention was to do some watercolors on Yupo, but that will be near the end of this challenge. I notice in my paintings of the past few days that by not looking at my source, the eggs, my work is flatter. I lose depth and dimension immediately. Even when I try to make it up. I like what I am doing and experimenting with, but I don't want to forget part of the challenge for me is to paint what I really see. And if I am not looking at anything, I am painting what I feel or decide to see. That's fine, but it does limit my learning curve.
While justifying painting what I wanted however, I have been working very hard on amount of paint used; color mixing, using fewer and fewer colors and, very important to me, learning how to use larger brushes effectively. In fact, I have been doing a lot of experimenting with brushes to figure out if I have favorites that force me to keep learning and not fall into my old medical illustrator habits of way too much (as required) detail.
So here is today's very different painting - a painting from feeling and stopping before I overworked it!
