Egg Number Seven - Still Not Cracked

Today was just a fun egg.  I wanted more opacity and thought about various eggs I have seen in the yards of some of my chicken loving friends.  One friend has some wonderful photographs of her hens eggs and I may go out one day to sketch them and do plein air eggs.

If at all possible I would like to avoid working from photos in this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge.  The whole point for me is to learn to look and really see, so photos will take me one step away from my subject.

Another thing I am becoming aware of is that I am using my acrylics like watercolors and would like to start laying on the color much like pastels.  Today I prepared two canvases, one with a lot of color for the under painting and the other with a wash.  Tomorrow is my day off so I may not get to the prepared canvases, in which case I may do a black and grey wash.

PS - I am a tiny bit frustrated with my slow progress, but when I put them all together it helps me see where I am going and where I need to pay more attention
